Purpose

This end-to-end workflow demonstrates every documented Catalyst Finance capability through one fictional resilient-community-retrofit case. The objective is not to prove a real-world conclusion; it is to verify the complete product workflow with controlled data.

Prerequisites

  • The current product release
  • A new synthetic workspace
  • The all-feature CSV and JSON
  • No production or private information
  • Time to review every checkpoint

Sample data

This article uses a fictional Resilient Community Retrofit Program. The files contain one demonstration row for every documented feature, so each capability can be tested without private or production data.

Procedure

Scenario

A community center is assessing energy, comfort, financing, implementation, evidence, and monitoring needs. Use only the supplied fictional records.

  1. 1. Model Workspace: create CF-RETROFIT-001. Confirm a persistent finance workspace.
  2. 2. Assumption Register: record tariff, grant, discount-rate, and project-life assumptions with sources. Confirm a traceable assumption set.
  3. 3. Revenue and Cost Drivers: model square footage, kWh, tariff, maintenance, and implementation timing. Confirm driver-based projections.
  4. 4. Three-Statement Model: connect income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow. Confirm integrated statements and balance checks.
  5. 5. Cash Flow: schedule project payments, financing, operating savings, and maintenance. Confirm periodic cash flows.
  6. 6. Budget and Forecast: compare actual, budget, forecast, and variance. Confirm variance tables and explanations.
  7. 7. Scenario Management: create downside, base, and upside assumption sets. Confirm scenario-specific statements and metrics.
  8. 8. Sensitivity: vary tariff growth, savings realization, cost, and discount rate. Confirm a sensitivity table or chart.
  9. 9. Stress Testing: apply a 20% cost overrun and delayed grant. Confirm liquidity and recovery effects.
  10. 10. Valuation: calculate project NPV under the documented cash-flow timing. Confirm a valuation with explicit assumptions.
  11. 11. Capital Structure: combine grant, debt, equity, and repayment terms. Confirm a funding structure and obligations.
  12. 12. Risk Register: connect contractor, tariff, funding, and performance risks to mitigations. Confirm a finance risk record.
  13. 13. Evidence and Sources: link assumptions to tariffs, contracts, studies, and historicals. Confirm a source-linked model.
  14. 14. Review and Approval: record preparer, reviewer, exceptions, and approval state. Confirm a human-controlled review trail.
  15. 15. Exports: produce statements, scenarios, model JSON, and audit bundles. Confirm portable inspectable files.
  16. 16. Decision Studio Handoff: attach the reviewed scenario comparison to DS-RETROFIT-001. Confirm a typed handoff with model version.

Save and review

  1. Save the final workspace under the sample workspace ID.
  2. Close and reopen it in a clean session.
  3. Compare every feature result with the sample expected_result field.
  4. Document unresolved differences and do not hide warnings.
  5. Export one complete artifact bundle.
  6. Send one supported handoff to an integration and verify its receipt.

Supported integrations

  • Decision Studio
  • Catalyst Data
  • Workbench
  • Knowledge Library
  • Platform Core

Expected output

Verification

  • Every CSV feature row has a corresponding saved result.
  • The JSON workspace ID and product version are preserved.
  • The export can be inspected without temporary browser state.
  • The receiving product identifies source, destination, schema, artifact, and review state.
  • A human reviewer can reproduce or audit the demonstration.
