Knowledge Library · How-to Guide

Structured documents, collections, topics, pathways, sources, citations, evidence, claims, scholarly discovery, review, and institutional knowledge.

Audience: product users, administrators, reviewers, and integrators.

Status: Published support documentation.

Purpose

This end-to-end workflow demonstrates every documented Knowledge Library capability through one fictional resilient-community-retrofit case. The objective is not to prove a real-world conclusion; it is to verify the complete product workflow with controlled data.

Prerequisites

  • The current product release
  • A new synthetic workspace
  • The all-feature CSV and JSON
  • No production or private information
  • Time to review every checkpoint

Sample data

This article uses a fictional Resilient Community Retrofit Program. The files contain one demonstration row for every documented feature, so each capability can be tested without private or production data.

Procedure

Scenario

A community center is assessing energy, comfort, financing, implementation, evidence, and monitoring needs. Use only the supplied fictional records.

  1. 1. Foundation Documents: create a stable platform methodology document. Confirm a full-page managed document with original-file link.
  2. 2. PDF-to-Document: import a product brief PDF while retaining the original. Confirm an editable searchable document and source attachment.
  3. 3. Collections: group the six guides into a Product Documentation collection. Confirm a browsable collection.
  4. 4. Topics and Concepts: relate retrofit documents to energy efficiency and resilience. Confirm semantic topic and concept links.
  5. 5. Research Pathways: build an ordered retrofit planning pathway. Confirm a reusable reading and action route.
  6. 6. Article Maps: place the six guides in previous/current/next order. Confirm series navigation relationships.
  7. 7. Source Records: create a bibliographic record for an energy standard. Confirm a reusable source object.
  8. 8. Harvard Citations: generate an in-text citation and bibliography entry. Confirm consistent formatted citation text.
  9. 9. Bibliographies: assemble a project-specific retrofit source list. Confirm an exportable bibliography.
  10. 10. Quote and Evidence Capture: capture a recommendation with page and context. Confirm a source-linked evidence excerpt.
  11. 11. Claims: link a controls-savings claim to supporting and challenging evidence. Confirm a reviewable claim-evidence graph.
  12. 12. Project Source Libraries: share selected utility and engineering sources. Confirm a governed project library.
  13. 13. Scholarly Connectors: search Crossref, OpenAlex, or DataCite for retrofit research. Confirm candidate sources awaiting review.
  14. 14. Library Discovery: use library profiles, WorldCat, OpenURL, ILL, and open-access routes. Confirm a lawful access route.
  15. 15. Versioning and Integrity: supersede a 2025 method with a 2026 edition. Confirm preserved version relationships and checks.
  16. 16. Collaborative Review: request technical and editorial review. Confirm a documented review trail.
  17. 17. Public API and Export: export bibliography and document records as JSON or RIS. Confirm structured portable records.
  18. 18. Institutional Collections: create a municipal resilience collection. Confirm a controlled institutional knowledge space.

Save and review

  1. Save the final workspace under the sample workspace ID.
  2. Close and reopen it in a clean session.
  3. Compare every feature result with the sample expected_result field.
  4. Document unresolved differences and do not hide warnings.
  5. Export one complete artifact bundle.
  6. Send one supported handoff to an integration and verify its receipt.

Supported integrations

  • Research Librarian
  • Decision Studio
  • Research Lab
  • Catalyst Data
  • Product Support Platform
  • Platform Core

Expected output

  • a full-page managed document with original-file link
  • an editable searchable document and source attachment
  • a browsable collection
  • semantic topic and concept links
  • a reusable reading and action route
  • series navigation relationships
  • a reusable source object
  • consistent formatted citation text
  • an exportable bibliography
  • a source-linked evidence excerpt
  • a reviewable claim-evidence graph
  • a governed project library
  • candidate sources awaiting review
  • a lawful access route
  • preserved version relationships and checks
  • a documented review trail
  • structured portable records
  • a controlled institutional knowledge space
  • A complete saved workspace
  • A portable export
  • A validated cross-product handoff receipt

Verification

  • Every CSV feature row has a corresponding saved result.
  • The JSON workspace ID and product version are preserved.
  • The export can be inspected without temporary browser state.
  • The receiving product identifies source, destination, schema, artifact, and review state.
  • A human reviewer can reproduce or audit the demonstration.
